Not every dead laptop needs a new motherboard—and not every “software issue” is software. Board-level faults often hide behind familiar symptoms. Spotting them early helps you choose chip-level repair instead of repeated blind part swaps.
1. Absolute no-power with a known-good adapter
If LEDs never light and another working charger does nothing, the fault may sit on the DC-in path, charging IC, or primary MOSFETs. Software reinstalls will not help. A chip-level desk measures those rails before recommending a full board.
2. Charges only in odd positions or intermittently

6. Random blue screens with healthy SSD and RAM
After memory tests and a clean OS, persistent instability can track to power integrity on the board. Chip-level shops confirm rails and capacitors before you buy another storage drive.
7. “Dead after charging chip replacement” elsewhere
Incorrect IC swaps or missing surrounding components leave boards worse. Second-opinion chip-level review with photos and measurements protects you from throwaway quotes.
